"I's a well known fact that the Americans never go into battle if the balance of power isn't in their favor!" What kind of horse shit statement is that? If it weren't for us Americans Europe would be speaking German by now. Tactical advantage is a good thing but quoting it like an ass in another.

Excellent documentary. I've watched many documentaries about normany and the war. But never one is detailed through the British eyes as this 1. Photograph through Cameras from over 600 photographers mostly lost through Is most killed doing so. This is an excellent showing of British , Allied and German photography. Accidentally edited To make the documentary more enjoyable, And to follow the flow of the battles.

I will address one issue. Everyone who follows the 2nd World War know the allies flooded the airways and propaganda devices, even agents, with mis-information in order to avoid the detection of D-DAY. Still, how could such a massive undertaking not be discovered. The answer may be that, something of such enormous magnitude is IMPOSSIBLE to pull off: "UNTIL IT HAPPENS."

This was incredible. I have to say, after watching it, I think Saving Private Ryan shots were based on a lot of the footage here, with the exeption to the Eisenhower footage. Scenes like the boats door coming down from first person view, then troops in Caan where are the broken buildings were etc. Just so great. I agree with @www.drumstheword.com - very well done. 5/5 stars

@Bronco46tube ,,,, It is amazing of the resources put into WWII which required millions in America to mass produce. Those were other men, old men, teens, women, people of all shades. .... Now we have leftists succeeding to destroy everything all those soldiers fought for. The democrats have become the enemy of America.

The Roosevelt's themselves pronounced it in what I believe is the Dutch pronunciation, as "Rose-e-velt". However, if you speak to many people from certain parts of New York City, such as my parents (one from Brooklyn, one from Queens), who lived through FDR's administration the tendency is to mispronounce the name as "Ruse-e-velt".

Wars are disputes of old men, resolved in the bloodshed of youth. That's how it is, we all know it and that's probably the main point of your comment. But I wouldn't underestimate the part these big names had in the war effort. Maybe they weren't in the gutter, but without their lead, the world could look really different. And let's be honest, Churchill, even with all his flaws and atrocities in his whole career, was one of the most important statesmen of the 20th century.

Unfortunately opening of the documentary describing the political context, as well as accuracy of the part of the narration (i.e. Bradley Patton relation, Leclerc's incompetency at Falaise casuing traffic jams on important roads), is absolutely not related to reality, as usual when French TV is involved. Most of footage is by Jack Lieb. BTW François Darlan was eliminated by power hungry de Gaulle.

D-Day was a big MISTAKE. Patton said so before he was murdered by US intelligence too, which has been proven and confessed to. If the US had left Germany alone, then it might have defeated communism in Russia and China and the world would be better today. WW2 was a huge mistake. Especially since Eastern Europe lost their freedom until 1990.
