LIQUID TENSION EXPERIMENT, the legendary supergroup comprised of Mike Portnoy (Transatlantic, Sons of Apollo), John Petrucci (Dream Theater), Jordan Rudess (Dream Theater), and Tony Levin (King Crimson, Peter Gabriel) recently announced their return with a new album titled ‘LTE3’, due to be released March 26th, 2021 via InsideOutMusic, twenty-two years after the bands’ last studio album.
"’The Passage of Time’ was the very first song we composed together when we reunited this past summer. It was so exciting to be back in a room creating together again after so long (22 years for all 4 of us and over 10 years for the 3 of us since being together in DT).
This serves as a great first taste for the listeners as it combines so many of the musical elements that makes LTE unique"
-Mike Portnoy
“This was the first song we worked on and when it was done, we all knew once again how amazing it was to be working together. We knew we were on to something and that this was going to be a really amazing album. Nothing about the passage of over two decades could’ve done anything to change that. To me this song truly reflects the collaborative songwriting efforts of all four of us.”
-John Petrucci
There is an undeniable chemistry that happens when the four of us are together. Entering the studio and starting work on ‘The Passage of Time’ after 22 years literally gave me a whole new perspective on these important musical (and personal) relationships and the way time is so relative. We just jumped right in, it was like no time had passed at all, and we created a song that has so many of the elements that make LTE unique. Not a day has gone by since our last release when I wasn’t asked, “When is LTE getting back together again?” Now we can finally deliver, and I can’t wait for everybody to hear our creation.”
-Jordan Rudess
“From the murky depths of the lockdown, LTE has re-emerged, galvanized, dripping with ideas, and taking no prisoners. ‘The Passage of Time’ is just the beginning.”
-Tony Levin

That’s is the sound of four musicians who practice on their instruments every day.
One word. EPIC!!!!
This is more DT than DT right now.
Thanks to pandemic, we are having great rehearsals of this stunning musicians
You can take all that 5G stuff and shove it; I’m doin’ fine with my LTE.
Un effin believable ! Someone below mentioned that Petrucci precision kills 99,9% of bactetia, I swear before listening to this, my screen was dirty and phone on 8% charge. Now screen clean and 100% charge !
these LTE videos are perfect. All the fans want to see are these guys playing/ Then they add the cool colors and graphics to this amazing music.
Come back...🤘🤘🤘
"Grandpa" Tony is a BADASS bassplayer!!! Peter Gabriel's right-hand man!!!
Cap style JP
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
7:15 LIFE TO SAVE LIFEEEEE!! LIVE TO SAVE LIFEEEE!! LIVE TO SAVE LIFEEE!! (THE GREAT DEBATE)
Gila jago amat abang Coki netral
The problem is, this music has a end. Perfect, I can't wait to listen all the masterpiece, march 26, is coming. 🤟
Showing us how it’s done!
Bring Portnoy back to DT
The liquid goo might be kinda obstructing my view of liquid tension, but my ears have never been so happy to hear these guys playing again!!! Can't wait to hear more!
This feels like listening to this band for the first time and not for the first time in 20 years.
After the mediocrity that "Distance Over Time" was, I cannot believe they actually still GOT IT! Chemistry makes wonders... Really beautiful, cathartic wonders.
My face is melting. Sounds like they didn’t fuck up this album. Thank god. When I saw them live in nyc. Still the best concert I ever went too. Not even close.
Where is myung?
This young group of musicians seem very hip. I hope they make it big!
2:48 sounds so sick!!
It goes nowhere. Not good. But at least they have fun.
sick
DT needs Portnoy
The solo section during 4:00 and so reminds me a lot of the solo section of In the Presence of Enemies 2. It has a very similar structure and feeling. I love how they get old ideas and recycle into something new and it still sounds cool. And Portnoy, my favorite modern drummer, I'm a huge fan of both work and personaliry. Being friends with him must be one of these gifts life only gives you in rare moments. Saying good job to him seems redundant, he always does it. But yeah, good job MP.
He's so smooth and compliments JP so well, without overcomplicating things.
Dumb question: is it possible for Levin to change instruments when they perform this live? Put one on a stand and wear the other one?
As a Dream Theater fan of both "eras" it´s kinda hard to see how little development Mike has gone through. It´s been eleven years since Mike left the band and he still plays the same fills and patterns. After all the rather "projects" (compared to DT) it seems to me he lost touch to progressing his style. John and Jordan are a lot of steps ahead of Mike who - in hindsight - peaked in Dream Theater and also reached his skill ceiling. Manginis skill ceiling is pretty much non existant and can easily keep up with whatever Petrucci and Rudess throw at him. I want to believe that this is also a reason why Portnoy left DT. He is a great drummer - no question - and he made Dream Theater a band that I love but he also stopped or slowed their progress by being probably too much involved to the song writing. By no means I am hating on him. I just think he didn´t progress his skills and this was maybe also a reason why he left DT in the end. I don´t think we will get much more collaboration with old DT staff for that very reason.
Go to 4:59 and tell me you haven't heard the same thing 100 times from Jordan. They haven't developed any more than Mike.
Just because he doesn't need 69 toms left right up and centre to play a song, doesn't mean that you can ignore the actual progress he has made in music.
3:47 - This bass humming .. wow... I was sure it's someone's voice.
Jordan, bring back your Kurzweil Liquid Lead! :D
Sounds like DreamTheater, at Mike Portnoy era.
I, and other people, really hope after the album goes live, you guys do a video without all the trippy stuff and just the band. Mike did it, so it's possible. Pleeaasse??? We don't care if it's edited together.
Them soaring Petrucci solos. Never get tired of hearing them.
kind of flat, and JP really shits on it by putting in part of the In the Presence of Enemies solo wtf?
I didn't know Ben kinksley is a bass God.
omfg Petrucci just kills the song when he gives the In the Presence of Enemies bit near the end what the fuck
Ok zoomer
WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY!? it was nice easy-listening until then
Tony Levin sold his soul at the crossroads
6:13 ..... pure Dream Theater !!
Indonesiaaa...mana suaranyaaaa
John's licks from 4:10 to 4:20 reminds me a bit of Opeth's Mikael guitar phrasings... I can't figure exactly why, but I can't think of another more likely influence...
This track makes me feel like one of the Teletubbies... "Again again!!" "Again again!!" .... If you have kids, you'll feel my pain.
Good old authentic and pure DT prog music! Levin is such a beast also. Beautiful! Thank you, masters!
2:01 Now that you have seen what you have done It's time to take that step into the kingdom. :""""""""""""""""""""""""""""D
ROCKING THAT THE NEIL PEART JERSEY
Great song i Love It John Petrucci is my favorito guitar play
Portnoy wearing a Neil Peart jersey. A legend paying tribute to THE legend.
Sounds great! Do what you do best - ROCK! You don't need any "Chewbaccas" on the new album.
Thank God!!!!! So good to have you guys back together making magic
So good to see the return of LTE, what a track ! Best prog work i've listen since a decade.
wonderful part in 5/4 at 2:00.
Real Dream theater without Myung...👍👍👍👍👍
This Should be proof to EVERYONE that playing complex music keeps your Brain young.
da' dream theater octobans! :')
gracias por hacer esta musica! son lo mas! aguante la musica!
Oh hell yeah my high school heroes are back! Their collective playing and writing are just on another dimension... 2021 isn't all lost to us just yet when you see Portnoy/Petrucci reunite again 😭😭
More dt than dt lol
Anybody notice the reference to the best of times? That was beautiful. What a song!!!
This sounds more Dream Theater than Dream Theater..
...
La parte final de la batería es criminal bendito mike portnoy
I would love to had Tony Levin as my grandpa.
Esse riff do final eu conheço kkkk da banda lufeh
THE UNKNOWN ...escuta lá mano
Kkkkk qual música é??
Is that a Chapman Stick?
this is too redundant for LTE, too DT, the opposite of LTE, dissapointed.
What a ride...
It's like hearing a bonus track from Images and Words 🤩🤩 super well done
Editor was high on Acid :/
Mike I’ve really missed your drumming💪💪💪
I just wish I could put 2 thumbs up on this!
The rush vibes are strong with this one
Yeeeeahhhh cannot wait
the basist looks like heizenberg in breaking bad
The perfect balance between prog rock metal and adding some nice softer rock mellow chords... that's the real core DT showed us back in the 90's... LTE is our last hope, and it seems they have figured it out again.
Bello! È un piacere ascoltare la musica ben fatta! È passato molto tempo dal LTE 2. Acquisteró il prima possibile questo nuovo lavoro.
10/10 points!
The youngest person in this band is now 54 years old. The oldest person is 74 years old. Hey kids.. you can suck it! 😆
This song is just amazing! Comprable to the best Yes and Genesis!!!!
por fin un tema como la gente!
idk why but I'm getting hard 'You Say Run' Vibes at 2:40 and 5:45... Great dong guys! Lovee it!!
YEEEEESSSSS!!!! Haha, this is awesome!! Liquid Tension Experiment is the BOMB!!
masterpiece!
John myung should play bass in this band..😊
SOLD!!
I hear this comment section has no negativity so im here t- *gunshots * Nothing to see here fellas, continue being a healthy commemt section and enjoy some LTE goodness
I've listened to this so many times now and still can't understand how they find the inspiration to push out something this good this far into their careers. Surely inspiration dwindles as success increases yet this is beyond phenomenal
Goosebumps, man, holy cow.
I had forgotten a reunion was on the cards. I'm so happy it's given us a new album to luxuriate in. Roll on end of March!
Excelent, sounds like our own reborn after all this shitstorm.
Well said. We might not win, but we fight for it nonetheless.
Why is Petrucci's face hidden in entire clip?
He knows how people feel about him, so maybe he downplayed his appearance to make himself look less like a frontman and try to make it feel more like an equal team effort.
damn...these guys rock
The Neil Peart Shirt Mr. Portnoy touches my heart and touches ALL of our hearts............
Godo!
The Metropolis vibe I got the very first seconds into the song actually made my chest warmer. There is something special about a certain guitarist and a certain drummer playing together that I cant describe but you can feel it.
Don't see the experiment on this but it's okay
Interesting. It's very 2021, but definitely Liquid Tension Experiment. Good to be back, boys.
When you have a PhD in rock and roll.
Finally that old man on bass plays it, not doing taping on it
